VOLUNTEER AT HMC
The HMC Hospital Auxiliary (The Pink Ladies) operates the gift shop in the second-floor main lobby of HMC. The gift shop offers a wide selection of gifts, cards, balloons, and snacks. Delivery is available within the hospital.
The standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours are posted on the gift shop door. The shop is closed for one week after Christmas and around the July 4 holiday.
Proceeds from all monies raised by the Auxiliary benefit hospital special projects and provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have chosen to major in healthcare. Auxiliary members touch the lives of patients, visitors, hospital staff, and others daily through their volunteerism and kindness.
In the past, the Auxiliary has given teddy bears and balloons to pediatric emergency room patients and newborn babies, bought and distributed magazines for patients throughout the hospital, donated funds to the Hardin County Nursing Home’s van fund, and presented an educational scholarship to individuals pursuing healthcare careers. The Auxiliary sends notes of appreciation and encouragement to staff members on special occasions throughout the year. Members frequently assist staff and visitors in selecting just the right item from the Gift Shop.
They were also instrumental in helping raise funds to open The Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center and purchased new outdoor furniture for the nursing home, HMC Health and Rehabilitation Center.
In addition, the HMC Auxiliary members afford hospitality and assistance to patients and visitors as they enter the Hardin Medical Center. At any time, you may find the volunteers checking on patients and visitors in the lobbies and waiting areas, assisting with wheelchair transports, answering questions, helping with bingo games in the nursing home, or cheerfully manning the hospital’s gift shop. Hardin Medical Center’s Hospital Auxiliary is a valuable asset not only to the hospital but also to each individual its members serve.
