Hardin Medical Center and PIVOT Pain Management Services (Savannah, TN) proudly announce the addition of Jay P. McDonald, MD-MPH, a board-certified physician in Anesthesiology and Pain Management, to their medical team. With extensive experience and a patient-centered approach, Dr. McDonald specializes in providing innovative solutions to help patients regain their quality of life.
Dr. McDonald has extensive expertise in managing spine-related pain and chronic conditions through advanced treatments, including nerve blocks, spinal cord stimulators, minimally invasive surgical techniques, medications, and physical therapy. He is skilled in interventional treatments for headaches and chronic pain, offering a multidisciplinary approach tailored to each patient’s needs.
A Memphis native, Dr. McDonald graduated from Memphis University School and earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and psychology from the University of Georgia. Inspired by his work at the Church Health Center, he pursued advanced medical training, earning both a Master’s in Public Health and a Medical Doctorate from Tulane University in New Orleans.
Dr. McDonald completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident and was honored as Resident of the Year. He further specialized with a fellowship in Pain Management at the same institution.
Dr. McDonald has experience with the Semmes-Murphy Clinic in Memphis, a leader in pain management healthcare solutions. He is an active or past member of professional organizations, including the Tennessee Pain Society, Tennessee Medical Association, Memphis Medical Society, Mississippi Pain Society, Mississippi Medical Association, and the Jackson Spine Society, ensuring he remains at the forefront of advancements in pain management.
Beyond his medical career, Dr. McDonald enjoys fishing, golf, playing the guitar, and SCUBA diving. He is married and has two young sons.
