ROOM ACCOMMODATIONS

Hardin Medical Center has both private and semi-private rooms. Every attempt possible will be made to provide you with the accommodations you request. However, private rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, or according to medical necessity. For your comfort, individual controls are provided in each room to adjust the temperature. Showers or bath tubs are available on each unit for your use as your physician directs. elderly volunteers.

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABILITIES

Phone amplifiers, handicapped parking, wheelchairs, "signers," and handicapped bathrooms are available for those with disabilities. Please let the nursing staff or the Patient Representative know if you have such a need.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
A nurse call button is located on a control pad next to your bed. There is an emergency pull cord in each bathroom. Please use these to call a nurse if you feel weak or unstable or if you need assistance for any reason.

A member of the hospital staff will instruct you on the operation of your bed. Do not get out of bed unless your doctor permits you to do so. You will notice that your bed is equipped with side rails for your safety. Never attempt to lower them yourself or climb over them. If the rails on your bed are raised, it is for your protection and to assist you in turning. Please use the nurse call button to summon assistance from the nursing staff if your bed's side rails are up and it is necessary for you to get out of bed.

If you should wish to leave the nursing unit for a brief time, please inform the nursing staff of your intended destination.

TELEVISION

Each room is equipped with a television. The controls are located on the pad with the nurse call button by your bed.

TELEPHONE

All rooms are equipped with telephones. The switchboard operator will direct phone calls to your room from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Your callers may dial your room directly by dialing 926-8, followed by your room number. For example, if you are in room 248, you can be reached by dialing 926-8248. To dial a local number, please press "9" for an outside line, then dial the number. Should you wish to make a long-distance call, dial “0”, and the switchboard operator will assist you.

INTERNET

SMOKING

Because we care about the health and safety of our patients and staff, Hardin Medical Center has been declared a “SMOKE-FREE FACILITY." Smoking is not allowed in the building and is discouraged at the entrances to the facility. Please do not smoke in your room or in any other area of the hospital.A physician’s order is required prior to allowing patients to smoke. Visitors are allowed to smoke in the shelter at the rear of the facility. Visitors should not leave the facility to smoke from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. The facility is locked during this time period for security purposes.

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS

If a patient on a medical/surgical unit or following childbirth is in a private room, an adult family member or visitor may stay with the patient during the night. Fold-out sleeping chairs are available in most private rooms for the overnight stay. If the patient is a child (ages 0-12), a parent or adult guardian must remain with the child at all times, never leaving them unattended during their hospitalization.

MEALS

You will be served three meals per day based on your condition and according to your physician’s instructions. We ask that you please check with your nurse before eating foods other than those you are served.

VISITOR DINING

All visitors are invited to eat in our cafeteria. Vending machines for drinks are located on each floor and a snack machine on the 2 nd Floor. The cafeteria is open during the following hours:

Breakfast 6:15 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.
Lunch 11:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Dinner 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

In some situations, a visitor must stay with a patient and may need a guest tray. Please ask the nurse for this consideration. For today's menu please dial 8099.

CLERGY

We encourage clergy of all denominations to visit members of their congregations who are being cared for at Hardin Medical Center. A chaplain is also available to visit with you. If you wish to see a member of the clergy, please ask the nursing staff, or the Service Excellence Director at extension 8383. If you prefer not to be visited, please let the nursing staff know.

VISITING HOURS

We encourage visits from family and friends when permitted by your physician. Suggested visiting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. to give you the best advantage of visits and to be certain you receive the rest and treatment you need.

GIFT SHOP

The Hospital Auxiliary operates a gift shop located in the main lobby. The gift shop carries a wide selection of gifts, cards, balloons, newspapers, and snacks. The Auxiliary uses proceeds from its sales to benefit the hospital in special projects and to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The normal operating hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gift shop may operate at different hours for some time periods during the year.

LOST AND FOUND

Your room is provided with a closet for your clothing and other personal belongings. (Please be sure to take your belongings when you are discharged.) The hospital is not responsible for articles you may leave. A lost and found is maintained in the Business Office. Your nurse or Patient Representative can assist you.

MAIL

Mail is delivered to patient rooms daily. Should you have any outgoing mail, please give it to the nurse to mail for you.

FLORAL DELIVERIES

When flowers and gifts are delivered to the hospital for you, they will be brought to your room immediately.
